Walden University Accreditation

Many online, private universities are not reputable. Known as Diploma Mills, some distance learning “colleges” offer nothing more than a useless diploma in exchange for a fee. Many people shy away from all online programs because of the illegitimacy of some of these entities, and the horror stories they have heard about individuals being scammed of thousands of dollars. Potential students can protect themselves from fraud in education by determining the accreditation of the school. Regional accrediting bodies, such as the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges, of which Walden University is a member, recognize an institution that adheres to industry-wide, acceptable practices in its educational endeavor. A quick check of the U.S. Department of Education Web site  will help one determine the accreditation status of a college or university.
