University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) was first established in 1966 where it was part of the University System of Maryland. The university mainly specializes in engineering and natural science courses and also offers academic programs in education, liberal arts and IT. The university is a public research institution that offers integrated research, teaching and service to the people of Maryland.
