Michael Phelps is probably the most well known Olympian today. He holds 16 Olympic Medals, 8 of which he won recently in Beijing. His success, though, is no accident. He’s no freak of nature, nor is he genetically engineered to swim. Phelps attributes his success to his hard work, dedication, planning, and practicing. He practices 365 days a year, with 2-a-day practices 145 days a year. With this much hard work and dedication, it’s almost impossible to not do well. Read more »

Why you may not be a good person, and what to do about it

About a year ago I was faced with a comment that really struck close to home. A person close to me made the statement, “what makes you such a good person? What do you do that is so good?” At first I became really upset, I thought “how could you say that?” But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I considered myself a good person because I was not a bad person, not because I did anything necessarily good. It was this realization that allowed me to turn my life around, to make minor and major changes and become a real ‘good person.’ Read more »
