Here’s the scoop. Last September I went from being a lazy bum to working out 7 days a week (no kidding). In that time I’ve managed to lose about 20 lbs (from 227 to 207). I’m sure I’ve lost more weight in fat, but I’ve also gained muscle weight so I couldn’t tell you exacts. And I’m not even that disciplined of a guy, I just like a good challenge every now and again.
So in the spirit of Spring Break and good weather, I’m posting a little friendly challenge, well 2 challenges actually; the 100 push-ups Program and the 200 Sit-ups Program. The beauty about these two challenges is that they don’t require hours in the gym each week, they are set-up for beginners and bodybuilders alike, and they are a real test of your overall strength.
I’m no Superman, but if I was able to do 100 push-ups/200 sit-ups consecutively, I think that would be a great accomplishment. Plus, I would wager that none of your friends (unless you know a lot of really swole dudes/chicks) can do 100 push-ups/200 sit-ups straight.
I want this to be a big thing for ZCL, it’s time for us to move to action! The best way we can improve the world is if we improve ourselves, so today we start that improvement (if we hadn’t before…)!
My challenge to you is that you sign in below (comments) and commit to joining me in this challenge. Your comment is your commitment to the challenge, and we will all be expected to stick with it. This will be a group effort, so know that you aren’t the only one feeling the burn!
Each week I will post another article about our progress and it will give you a chance to comment again about your progress and how you feel about the challenge. My hope is that by the end of the challenge (7 weeks) we all reach the big 100/200!
So what do you say readers? Are you ready to take action? Are you ready to face me in my challenge? Leave a comment, and let’s take action together! It will be our first big step towards greatness. I’ll see you at the top!
Oh and just as a plus to my fellow iphone users, they have a 100 Push-ups and a 200 Sit-ups app to help you with your program. Woo hoo!
(Leave a comment and motivate others to join up!)

I hear you Farah, I’m not a big fan either. But there is something to be said about completing a challenge this great, especially when it isn’t something we enjoy. I’d say that’s an extraordinary accomplishment!
I’ll start as well. I can already do a lot though, so I will be starting at week three or four, but it will still be a challenge.
I do have to suggest one thing though. I know people that have done this before, and they claim that if you are not already pretty strong, it will take about 8 weeks to complete, as there will be a plateau period somewhere and you will probably have to redo a week or two. Some of you might be fine in the given amount of time, but just so you know it is normal to have to redo a week if you are having trouble.

I’m in too. I actually started the 100 push-up deal last week, so today I’m starting week 2. I’ll get on the sit-up one as well.
Great idea, Ibrahim! It’s always easier to work out with others, even if over the Internets.

Hmm… I can barely do one push-up, and I think I can do about five sit-ups. I’m with laura – I’ll start tomorrow!
Hey, I actually started the 100 push up program a couple of weeks ago. I was able to do enough on the first try to start at week 3 (29) but have found it to be quite difficult to the 5 sets on week 3 day 1. I’ve actually had to work up to completing day one as written (yesterday). I definitely think the program will take more than 6 weeks.
ok, i did the initial test. got 63 sit ups and 13 push ups.. so not TOO bad.. haha so i started.
Great job Laura! I’m going to do the initial test later tonight. I just worked out my arms, so if I did it now it wouldn’t be accurate.
Good luck with the first week everyone. I know some of you reading this haven’t left a comment committing to the challenge, so what are you waiting for?
O man I was doing the 100 push ups challenge and I was so mad that I stopped because I was only my way to doing at least 30. Maybe I’ll start over someday.

Great job Laura! I’m going to do the initial test later tonight.
Ok, I did the initial push-up test. I got 43 before landing on my face… Not bad I guess, I’m already almost half way there!
I started week 2 of pushups today. 30 for the max set at the end. I’ll to the initial situp test later.

Great job Josie. Good luck, and don’t forget to report back next Monday for updates everyone!
Phew! Took the initial test, and it’s not looking good! Can’t even do one standard push-up (that’s why one of my friends calls me “Noodle Arms”), so I’ll be doing the “alternative” push-ups to start. Got 50 crunches out of myself, though, so I suppose all is not lost. My abs and arms are the things that are most out of shape, so this is a good challenge for me!
Glad to hear it Stephanie. You’re off to a good start!
Hopefully we’ll all make good progress to report back next week!
Ha, I always try this but eventually I always fallout of my routine (bad time management) and end up packing it in. I’ll def try it now
I have heard of the 100 push up challenge, but the 200 sit up challenge is new to me. I should really try to do both of these.
ugh i hate push-ups but im willing to give this a shot!
This seems to be an interesting fitness program i might just try it out. Its true that not anyone can do 100 push-ups and 200 sit-ups right from the start.
