I was an early adopter of the iPhone, as I usually am with technology, and I must say that until the App Store was created the iPhone was a lot of hype and definitely wasn’t worth the money. Lately though, it has become a tool that I cannot separate myself from. I absolutely love it, and I can do so much with it. So lets get to it, a list of my favorite iPhone apps, in no particular order. Note that all of the apps listed are free!
The Weather Channel – No longer do I have to walk outside and freeze my butt off just to find out how cold it is. With this app I can dress for the weather without having to get punched in the face by it first. Great stuff!
Midomi – This app will recognize and name songs just by you singing to your phone. What’s not to love about that?
Flixster – Tells me what movies are coming out, and automatically shows showtimes for the theaters closest to me. Absolutely amazing.
Wikipanion - The ultimate BS caller. We’ve used this app countless times to prove that one of us doesn’t know what they are talking about. Who knew Wiki could settle so many bets…
Associated Press News Feed – The only news I read. Not because it’s the best, I’m sure it’s not, but it’s easy, I can read over it quickly and get on with my life. I’m not a big fan of news anyway.
NextBio – This app is a must have for any science or health professionals. It is pretty much a pubmed search engine. I use it to read the studies of all of the different nutritional and fitness supplements I take, as well as medications and other clinical trials.
Trivopaedia – A huge resource of random trivia. Great for passing time in lines or waiting…
Youtube – I actually use youtube for productivity. If I want to learn something quickly without having to read, I youtube it. I learned the basic swimming styles this way, and it greatly improved my swimming efficiency.
TED – If you know about TED talks you will appreciate this one. If you don’t, head over to TED.com and find out what all the fuss is about.
Jott – transcribe voice to text. Great for taking notes while driving…
To Do’s – a great, simple, and easy to use to do list program.
All Recipes – ypu have to try this to love it. You choose what type of dish, ingredients, and how long for it to be ready, and it returns a list of great recipes. Fantastic!
Facebook – Though I don’t use this one often, it’s great to have for quick updates and messages.
Topple – A fun free game. It’s like the opposite of tetris. you are trying to build upwords, instead of downwards.
Lose It! – Great resource for keeping track of calories and fitness goals.
BinauralBeat – I use this while studying. Supposedly it helps with memory retention and stuff, but maybe it’s just white noise. Either way it works for me.
Craigsphone – quick browsing of craigslist ads, formatted for iphone viewing!
CO2 Tracker – Find out just how large your carbon footprint really is.
There’s a couple of others I use, but these are the ones I really like. What iphone apps do you use? How do you like them? Leave a comment and let me know which apps I’m missing out on!
