A personal friend of Steve Olson’s (a blogger I love to read from) has compiled a list of free personal development material that you can’t afford not to check out.  I’ve already looked over some of it, and I have to say that we have stumbled upon a goldmine.  Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

I just finished reading “The Greatest Management Principle in the World” by Michael LeBoeuf, and I am rather impressed. Though the book was written in 1985, way before the GTD movement, this book is rather inspirational in not only getting things done, but also in creative and lateral thinking, as well as tips on achieving more and things of that nature. Leboeuf stresses that “The Things that get rewarded, get done,” to explain how to manage people and how rewards consistantly achieve better results than punishments.  I’ll go into a little detail of what should be rewarded and a couple of other ideas from the book. People at the college and university levels are hopeful. We are dreamers, thinkers, and doers. We don’t just believe everything we hear, we don’t just accept everything we are given, we think, question, learn, conclude, act, and react to everything around us. As you can see we are working on a new look for Zen College Life. I think this theme gives us more control of design than the other themes that Zen College Life has tried. I designed the ZCL logo and header banner myself. I will be working this week to implement Google Adsense and Amazon Affiliate Program Ads this week.

The Compact Classics is turning out to be the best book I’ve ever purchased. I am able to learn about all of the classics very quickly (it summarizes books of all sorts in 2 pages each), and decide which I want to read the full versions of. And the list extends far beyond the literary classics.

Here at Zen College Life we believe that college can be one of the greatest experiences of your life, if you do it right. Organization, productivity, and access to the right tools will ensure success with academics as well as social events. With that in mind I have compiled a list, both from personal experience and a little bit of research, on a list of gadgets which will make your college experience smoother and more enjoyable. Bear in mind that not all of the gadgets listed here will be necessary for everyone, but they were all worth listing, in my opinion.
