Full Sail University was founded 30 years ago on a physical campus in Winter Park, Florida. They began offering online degree programs in 2007. Since its founding, the university has graduated over 30,000 individuals in the entertainment field, and today averages over 8,000 students a year.

At its Winter Park location, Full Sail University offers Associate of Science degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, and Master’s degrees. For its online degrees, it offers Bachelor degrees, Graduate Certificates, and Master’s degrees — no Associate degrees.

Bachelor of science degrees are offered in: computer animation, entertainment business, game art, game design, graphics design, internet marketing, music business, music production, and web design and development.

The Graduate Certificates offered are in Education Media Design & Technology and in Internet Marketing. Students need to have a Bachelor degree before they can enroll in these programs, which are designed to be just below a Master’s degree program.

The Master’s degree programs are offered in: Master of Fine Arts degrees in creative writing and media design, and Master of Science degrees in EBMS (sports management elective track), entertainment business, education media design and technology, and internet marketing.

Full Sail University is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). This is a national accreditation. Interestingly, most four-year colleges and universities are regionally accredited, and may not accept the transfer of credits from Full Sail University.

Bachelor degrees require 123 credit hours (a couple require more) in order to receive a degree. Cost for credit hours vary from program to program, but only by a few dollars. Costs range from $394 per credit hour to $439 per credit hour, so an average semester costs a little over $6,000 for most programs, with 8 semesters needed for a degree. Graduate certificates require one semester, at $7,500 per semester pm average. Masters degrees require 43 credit hours, averaging $700 per credit hour. In other words, 3 semesters, at $10,000 average per semester.

Full Sail University offers financial aid to its students, and there are scholarships available. The university representatives will work with students to get them the aid needed.

Overall, students would appear to be satisfied with their experience taking online classes from the university.

Full Sail Scams and Complaints

No charges of Full Sail University being a scam have been leveled. General complaints about how expensive tuition is have been made on occasion. More comments have been made that graduates get into the field…albeit at entry level…quickly, because of the university’s networking program.
