As college students, otherwise known as poor people, we are always down for free stuff. That’s why companies are always around campus giving away their products, in hopes that we will like their product enough to tell our friends and buy more. Well, in the spirit of free stuff, I’ve found a magical little program called Smart Installer Pack.
This magical program is simple to use and bundles all of the software you see in the pictures above into one quick and easy install, without adding any crap behind the scenes. It takes all the good stuff and squeezes it into one tiny, neat package.
So what do you get? (among others, here are my favorites)
- Skype (video, voice, and chat conferencing)
- Google Earth
- Winamp
- Firefox
- Pidgin (MSN, Yahoo, AIM, and other messengers all in one)
- uTorrent
- 7zip
- K-lite Mega Codecs (install this and your computer will play pretty much every video and audio filetype)
- Open Office (like Microsoft Office, but free-er and better)
- AVG Antivirus
- CCleaner
- VLC Media Player
- Evernote
- Audacity
- Itunes
- Limewire
And much, much more. Now you don’t have to go download each one seperately. Smart Installer Pack does all the dirty work, saving you time. Now you can use that extra time to read more ZCL!

Can you select which ones you want and which ones you don’t? Or does that require going back to downloading them all seperately again?

You can select which applications you want to install. It will then download the ones that you want, and the ones you don’t want will never be downloaded or installed.
Great stuff!
One thing I would definitely add to this list is to get yourself a copy of endnote, it’s not ‘free’ but universities usually have unlimited licenses and it will COMPLETELY CHANGE your essay writing. Trust me on this one, I get all my students to use endnote and they literally save days worth of work each semester once it’s set up.

Just say No to Limewire. Everything else listed is good.
I didn’t know about these new applications. And they are also for free, which is really amazing. Thank you for sharing!
