Just like Ibrahim’s post on Why you should get a website, I’m going to give you some reasons on why I believe you should get a job this summer.

1. It gives you something to do.
2. It puts some extra cash in your pocket.
3. Earning money forces you to appreciate all the hard work your parents did for you when they could have spent all their hard earned money on themselves.  Remember all the times your parents took you out to eat, paid for your night at the movies, lended you money that you never paid back, bailed you out, etc.
4. Working gives you an opportunity to put your skills to use and to see if your ready for the real world.
5. Working builds valuable job experience that you can put on your resume.
6. Working opens you to a new world.
7. 7. Working gives you a great opportunity to network. With all the people at the place you can work at, there is either a co-worker or customer that knows about that dream job that you want.
8. You won’t look at purchases in dollar amounts anymore. You will look at purchases in terms of hours worked.
9. You can purchase the things you want and appreciate it.
10. You can learn new skills that college doesn’t teach you.
11. You can get discounts sometimes if the company is affiliated with other businesses.
12. You can start putting some of that money into a lifetime savings account.
13. You can meet new friends.
14. You can establish your personal brand.
15. You can learn how to negotiate salary early in your life.

There are many other reasons why you should get a job this summer.  These are just a few to get you started.  So get to work and don’t waste your summer break!
