Top 10 Web Resources for College Students

resources

Being college students, many of us already use the internet for a great amount of different things.  But I’m sure a lot of it isn’t productive.  Why should we waste time on the internet when there are so many great, free resources to help us develop ourselves, and to make life easier?  I’ve compiled a list of great web resources in the hope that all of you will stop watching “Chocolate Rain” and “I’m on a Boat” on youtube.

Facebook Facebook is a fantastic resource for college students.  It’s like myspace with better usability features and a lack of crappy background pictures and music.  I use facebook as a way of keeping in touch with people that I am not in contact with on a regular basis and also as a way of sharing updates for ZCL.  Become a fan of Zen College Life on Facebook by clicking here.

Wikipedia Sometimes I think Wikipedia is the greatest thing that ever happened to the internet.  It’s a great source to gain an understanding of nearly everything, everyone, or every event that ever happened (of significance of course).  I use it for practically every class, to gain knowledge of any subject I’m getting into, and sometimes just to learn something new about someone famous throughout any period in history.

Zoho suite & Google docs – Either one of these is a great online document processing system.  Basically it’s like Microsoft Office suite, except all online.  I really like Zoho suite because I use the iPhone and they have their website setup to be very iPhone friendly.

Flickr – Flickr is a great site for storing all of your pictures and sharing them with family and friends.  It’s a free service, it’s super easy to set up, and you can access it from anywhere.  Did I mention it’s free?

Pandora Pandora is like a radio station playing only the music you want to hear.  I use this on my laptop, my home computer, and my iphone any time I just want to hear some good tunes.

OttoBib Just as the name would have you believe, OttoBib is a free automatic bibliography generator.  I love it.  It can manage your bibliography in all of the popular formats, including MLA, APA, Chicago, and Turabian.  Bibliographies can be a real pain, and with OttoBib the detailed work is done for you, so you can spend more time on facebook…

Make Use of – When I first stumbled upon this site I thought I had found gold.  It is a fantastic resource of all kinds of free computer resources to do practically anything you could ever want to do.  They update the site regularly (multiple times a day), so there is always something new and interesting to find.

Lifehacker This is for the techie students. You know who you are.  This site has all kinds of crazy cool ways to hack your life for the better.  Ideas are fun and free, and can take your hobbies and interests to a whole new level.  You’ll definitely want to check this one out.

The College Blog Network ZCL recently joined TCBN.  It seems like a great network.  It’s a wonderful resource for college students.  It’s focused on college blogs, and is great for finding and following like-minded students across the good ole USA.

Zen College Life – You’ve probably heard of this one, maybe even visited it once before.  Zen College Life is probably the greatest web resource any college student could find.  They work hard to ensure that you are well prepared to deal with anything that might come your way in college; From [intlink id="1319" type="post"]Losing The Freshman 15[/intlink] to [intlink id="692" type="post"]Acing Final Exams[/intlink], they’ve got you covered.  Subscribe to ZCL and you’ll never be without great college knowledge again.

So there you have it, Zen College Life’s Top Web Resources for college students.  Do you know of any resource worthy of being added to the list?  Leave a comment and let us know.
