ZCL Needs a Few Good Writers

writing

As you may have noticed, I’m not writing as frequently as I did last semester. I haven’t lost my passion, but it seems that I may have lost some time. I’m taking 20 hours this semester and it is stealing every waking moment from me. I will continue to write as I find time, but it looks like I won’t get to write a fresh, new post each day.

But a fresh, new post is what you, the reader, deserves. In order to make that possible I’m looking for a few good writers to supplement my writing. You don’t have to be a professional. God knows I’m not. What you do need is enthusiasm, a little free time, and a willingness to share your knowledge and academic experiences with others.

So I guess I’m taking applications. This will be a volunteer position (guest posts or regular), Zen College Life barely makes enough profit to pay for itself. Writing for Zen College Life will give you a chance to develop a writing voice, a sense of style.  As you write you will become part of something greater than yourself.  You will be speaking to an audience, helping them to achieve greatness.  I’m a firm believer in the whole open source movement, and Zen College Life is a reflection of that.

This is a great opportunity for all of you communications and English majors to get some extra writing in.  You can work on your persuasive skills, develop a non-biased writing style, and you’ll have fun.  It’s fun to know that people want to read something that you have written.  Trust me, it’s very satisfying.

Also if you write for another site, or have a blog of your own, I will gladly share links to your sites.  It’s a great way to get some extra traffic headed your way.

So here’s the challenge.  I work very hard to maintain a level of quality in my posts at Zen College Life, and if you want to write for ZCL I expect that you will too.  I won’t have any formal application process, just an email from you to me expressing your wanting to write for ZCL and a few reasons why you would be a good writer here.

Be sure to touch on these in your email:

  • Why do you want to write for ZCL?
  • Why would  you be a good writer?
  • What types of interests do you have that might be beneficial to the readers?
  • How often do you want to post to ZCL? (there is no right or wrong answer here, just be honest…)
  • What type of subjects would you want to write about?

And if you are willing to share:

  • Where do you go to school?
  • What subjects are you studying?
  • What type of career are you seeking?
  • Tell me an experience that changed your approach to college, and how this benefited you.
  • anything else that would help me understand where you are coming from and what you’d like to do with ZCL.

As an added bonus I’m willing to write any letters of recommendation or anything of the sort to writers who contribute to ZCL.  It is a great opportunity to get your name online.

.  If you have a website of your own, feel free to share it.  I’d love to check you out!

Thanks in advance to everyone who contacts me.  I’d love to have you all, but I only have space for a few good writers, so I look forward to hearing from you, and I hope that you get to help ZCL become an even greater success.

Regards,
