Alright guys, here it is, the first contest held at Zen College Life.com.  I’ve been thinking about a way to inspire others to write, as writing has recently changed my life, and I think that a free custom blog is the way to go.  So here’s the challenge. Tell me why you would like a custom blog (self hosted, like zencollegelife, not wordpress.com or blogger.com), and what you plan to do with it. You don’t have to be a self-development writer, you don’t even have to be inspiring.  What you do have to do is have a good idea, a good plan, and the motivation to start writing regularly.

Writing has really changed my outlook on life.  Through discipline, inspiration searching, and creativity, writing has forced me to soul search, to find the message I want to give to people, and to share that message in a way that it could be heard.  Writing has kept me motivated, and it has inspired me to read more.  After I started writing I changed career plans, I realized that I wanted a completely different life than I had originally thought, and I am so much happier now.  It has improved my relationship, my fitness, my school work, my social life, and pretty much every other aspect of life.  That’s right folks, just spending a few moments each day with a keyboard and a blank word processor my life was changed.

If I can inspire just 1 person to experience the same thing I did this contest will have been worth it.

So here are some more details about the contest.

What to do:  First of all you have to subscribe to ZenCollegeLife.com (click “Subscribe to RSS). Then tell me why you want your own self-hosted blog.  What will you do with the blog?  How will it benefit you?  Will it benefit others?  What is your plan for the site?  Winner will be chosen based on the best pitch.

What the winner will receive:

• A custom .com or .net url
• A newly installed wordpress blog
• Web hosting for 1 year
• A theme with custom banners, colors etc.
• All of the plugins I think are necessary to start you up
• Some search engine optimization. This will get your site onto google, yahoo, etc.

All I will need from the winner is a domain choice (check if it’s taken here) and a basic theme layout style.  From there I will take care of the rest.

Winner will be announced November 1. That gives you 3 weeks to contact me with your idea.  You can do that by commenting here, or contacting me through my contact page above.
