School is on, full fledged. I’m already only a week away from my first big test, Human Physiology. It’s not going to be easy, and I’m already feeling the heat. Stress left unmanaged can ruin us, especially students. We not only have to worry about the stress of studying, but also the test taking. No matter how much you’ve studied, we all still feel it. But isn’t it strange how once you turn in the test, once you are finished, once you let go, all the stress goes away? What if you could make that happen before the test was over? Maybe even before the test started?
While my method isn’t tried and true, it has certainly had great effects on me. I found my stress reliever, and it works fantastically. If you guessed from the title what my method is, you are probably right; The Beach Boys - Kokomo. I don’t know what it is about this song, but it just takes me away to some wonderful beach where everything is sunshine and rainbows and I haven’t a care in the world. It’s almost surreal how well this works. It’s like The Beach Boys knew the programming language to my brain.
Simple enough, right? You need to find your Kokomo. What works for you? What song, video, picture, place takes you away from the immediate world into your wonderland? If you can find this place you can master stress and never be oppressed by it again. It is a fantastic feeling to be able to walk into a test without a care in the world, and just give the test all that you have. No fear of failure, to stress, just you and the test.
