I’ve been noticing that the number of subcribers to Zen College Life has been increasing at a decent rate recently.  I’ve also been noticing that the increase of readers has not had a noticeable impact on the amount of reader activity on the site, including comments and conversations.  In an effort to stimulate more responses to the content on the site, as well as help out fellow bloggers, I’ve made a few less noticeable but very significant changes to Zen College Life.

First off, all links are DoFollow now.  This means that not only every link I write will be followed by search engine spiders, but also every comment you make.  When search engine spiders crawl my site they will follow your comments out to your site, which will increase the significance of your web presence on the search engines.  Basically it is another way for google to find you, which I hear is very important in considering page rank.

Also I’ve recently installed CommentLuv, a great plugin that when you post a comment will follow your blog and link to your most recent post.  This is another great way to drive a little extra traffic to your most recent post.

I’m always looking for new innovative ways to interact with readers, so if you have an idea that you think would work, I’d love to hear it.

I just customized a theme for my wonderful fiancé Farah’s blog The Unassociated Press.  She hasn’t done much with the blog just yet, but she’s a magnificent writer (aspiring to be a journalist), much better than myself, and I think she just needs a little encouragement (human interaction is always motivating).  If you have the time check out her site, and leave some words of encouragement.  I think her blog will be a great success.
