Weekly Focus: Invest in Yourself
Written by Ibrahim on June 30, 2008 – 3:58 pm -This week we will be focusing on investing in ourselves. You always here people talking about investing in this stock or that company, investing time in your family life and friendships, investing in a new tv or xbox (if that can even count as an investment…), but rarely do we focus on investing in what matters most; ourselves. An investment in yourself is the difference between where you are now and the raise you hope to get. It’s a difference between the person you are today and the person you could be tomorrow. You are your single most valuable asset, and until you start putting it to work, you couldn’t hope to be any more succesful than you are now.

For Anyone Who Needs to Get Things Done
Written by Ibrahim on June 29, 2008 – 9:41 pm -I just finished reading “The Greatest Management Principle in the World” by Michael LeBoeuf, and I am rather impressed. Though the book was written in 1985, way before the GTD movement, this book is rather inspirational in not only getting things done, but also in creative and lateral thinking, as well as tips on achieving more and things of that nature. Leboeuf stresses that “The Things that get rewarded, get done,” to explain how to manage people and how rewards consistantly achieve better results than punishments. I’ll go into a little detail of what should be rewarded and a couple of other ideas from the book. Read more »

How to Achieve More: Be Your Own Personal Assistant
Written by Ibrahim on June 17, 2008 – 6:32 pm -Pam Beesly from “The Office”
I was thinking about how much I do now during this summer break, or rather how little I do, when I came upon the idea that I could acheive so much more if I had my own personal assistant. Then reality struck… I have no money. So, I came up with my next best solution: Fire me as my personal assistant, and hire a new me. Confused?

7 Habits of Losers - Are Your Buddies Keeping You Back?
Written by Ibrahim on June 13, 2008 – 7:07 pm -Shilpan, at Dumb Little Man wrote an excellent article about habits of your friends that are holding you back. Here’s an excerpt.
A billboard near my house reads, “Tell me the company you keep, and I’ll tell you what you are.” If you ponder, there’s a truth in this statement. A criminal seeks another criminal; a successful man seeks the company of another successful man.

Change the World By Expressing Yourself
Written by Ibrahim on June 12, 2008 – 6:09 pm -People at the college and university levels are hopeful. We are dreamers, thinkers, and doers. We don’t just believe everything we hear, we don’t just accept everything we are given, we think, question, learn, conclude, act, and react to everything around us. Nothing is yet at it’s best, and we are the generation that believes we can change it. We can make it better. Read more »

Weekly Focus: Keeping Goals in Mind
Written by Ibrahim on June 9, 2008 – 2:43 pm -For many of us who struggle to stay organized, be productive, and live a consciously purpose driven life, sometimes the daily grind gets in the way. We make a to do list and plow through it with the force of a typhoon, never really focusing on why it is we are doing each actions, what the purpose of each action is, or the end goal of each action that we are aiming for. While we are still getting things done, we will soon realize that we are working through many tasks which put us no closer to our life goals that we have set for us. Here is my proposal for a short, simple solution. Read more »

Medical Maladies: Fact or Fiction
Written by farahk on June 7, 2008 – 12:20 am -As Americans we tend to get caught up in periodic fads that rise up suddenly, washing us away in trendy nothingness, only to disappear as quickly as they came. Beanie babies, 24” spinners, and our odd fascination with actresses who barely register on the talent scale all came in and became the source of water cooler small talk for a few months only to pass away. Though most of our nation’s preoccupations are harmless, some, like the low carb diet, can pose a serious health threat. Other public scares are deemed unhealthy though they pose seemingly no risk at all. For this reason, a list dispelling some rumors and clarifying some murky claims is necessary to keep us all informed and healthy.
