“Honesty is the cornerstone of all success, without which confidence and ability to perform shall cease to exist.” -Mary Kay Ash
This week we will try to focus on being honest. As it pertains to last weeks focus, Purity, a lack of honesty is a digression from purity. So to build on purity one must live a life of honesty. And as we all know honesty is the best policy, right
Living a life of honesty is not an easy task to accomplish. It can be especially difficult if you are often faced with situations where an act of dishonesty is easier and has little or no negative consequences. But honesty is an act of goodness, and whether or not we practice honesty, we all know that honesty is important to us.
We expect honesty from our friends, family, and even strangers. When you lose you wallet, do you not hope that someone honest will find it, and return it to you? When you are in a relationship, do you not hope that your significant other is honest with you? If you are religious, do you not believe that God is honest in his promise of paradise for your good deeds?
Honesty is an umbrella of characteristics of goodness. Honest includes integrity (doing the right thing), trustworthiness (being able to be counted on to do what you say you will do), fairness and honor (not taking take things you don’t deserve), and sincerity and truthfulness (saying what you mean and meaning what you say).
Honesty is always the right thing to do. It may not be easy, and people may sometimes get hurt in the process, but it is what is right. And it is what is expected of you, just as you expect honesty of those around you. Living a life of honesty requires a commitment of trust, not to one’s self or another person, but a commitment to trust itself. You have to trust that it is the right thing to do, no matter what, and this will make it easier to incorporate a honesty into your decision making process. Of course there are exceptions to every rule, but I think you understand, and you have to use your own judgment on when and if it is better to be dishonest.
But as for most, honesty is the best choice you can make.
Honesty is not just something to believe, it is something to live, to breath, to feel with every beat of our heart, every moment of existence. Honesty is pure, it’s beautiful, and it’s a punch you in the face realization of what is true, what is real, and what matters.

[Hadith (narration)]God’s Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Behonest, for verily honesty leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to paradise.”
[Lessons from this Hadith (narration)] Live your life in a way that if someone was to open the door on you at any moment, you would have nothing to hide. This is true success. Think of something that you may be ashamed people will find out about, and take some action right now to stop doing it.
