Passive Income: every college student’s dream. But I often wonder, why is it that this seed of a dream never grows into something profitable. There are plenty of ways to make an extra dollar without having to put in an 8 hour workday. And while I’m sure it can be fulfilling working day in and day out, making profits for someone else, while only receiving a small fraction of those same profits, I know there is a better way. And if we are truly in the prime of our intellectual capabilities, now is the time to figure out what that better way is.

For those who don’t know what passive income is, here is a little description for you: Passive income is income generated from something that doesn’t require frequent or direct participation. Much like earning dividends, collecting royalties, or owning a rental property. However, initial work is sometimes required to setup the means to accumulate passive income in your absence.

Here are a few examples of ways to make money while not actually working:

*Owning and maintaining vending machines

*ATM Machines

*Create and Sell Books/Ebooks

*Create and sell videos. Post teasers on Youtube/metacafe

*Affiliate Programs (online)

*Create your own infoproducts

*Create products/software

*Reseller services

*Advertising sales

*Stocks

*Bonds

*Equity Mutual Funds

*Online Community Websites

*Make and Sell Art

*Stock Photography, sounds, fonts etc.

*Buy into a Franchise

*Sell merchandise

Look at this list. Think of something in your life which could be made simpler by implementing a system which would not require around the clock work. ATMs replace bank tellers; Selling ebooks online replaced a store and a packager/sender. Instead you just pay online and download the goods; Affiliate programs pay you for their chance to advertise to the traffic your website receives; Mutual funds grow while you sleep, etc. There are many places where we can create a system to make money for us, and with our intellect and creativity, all we need is time and the right train of thought. So go out, build your system, and start making free money. You have no excuse not to!
