If I told you that I had the answer that could completely turn your life around, and would cost you absolutely nothing, does that sound like something you might be interested in? If so, read on…

It costs nothing but creates much

It enriches those who receive, without impoverishing those who give

It happens in a flash, and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever

None are so rich they can get along without it

And none so poor, but are richer for its benefits

It creates happiness in the home

Fosters good will in the business

And is the countersign of friends

It is rest to the weary

Daylight to the discouraged

It is sunshine to the sad

And natures best anecdote for trouble

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen

For it is something that is no earthly good to anybody

Until it is given away

Nobody needs it so much as one with none left to give

This quote from Dale Carnegie’s “How to win friends and influence people,” explains the value of this free but priceless action:

A smile.

That’s right. The fastest, cheapest, easiest way to change your life and the lives of those around you is to give smiles like they are charity. The beauty of it is that you have an endless supply. The poor can give just as much as the rich. And who doesn’t like receiving a smile from a random person, a fellow spreader of happiness.

Not only is it charity, but it’s also free medicine. There are many known health benefits of smiling. Dr. Mark Stibich, Ph.D (http://longevity.about.com/mbiopage.htm) explains a few in his article Top 10 reasons to smile (http://longevity.about.com/od/lifelongbeauty/tp/smiling.htm) I’ll outline his reasons:

1. Smiling makes us attractive

2. Smiling changes our mood

3. Smiling is contagious

4. Smiling relieves stress

5. Smiling boosts your immune system

6. Smiling lowers your blood pressure

7. Smiling releases endorphins, natural pain killers, and serotonin

8. Smiling lifts the face and makes your look younger

9. Smiling makes you seem successful

10. Smiling helps you stay positive

Alright, now that I have you all pumped-up and excited, polish up those pearly whites, practice that perfect smile in your bathroom mirror, and get out there and show off your money maker! (smiles only please)
